At the academy in Merksem you can now find this mural with a powerful message.
A twist of its own
Music, Word play and Dance - part of the Merksem Art Academy - wanted to have a mural realised with an image inspired by and referring to children's rights. The academy has long been a school that focuses on children's rights.
The wall that received the beautiful design is located on the right wing of the building. Along the façade runs a walkway where children and young parents pass every day, to school and back.
The concept comes from an artistic interpretation of a statue designed by Koen van Mechelen. It depicts a baby on some encyclopaedias, describing the rights of the child. Our artist Toon van Ishoven gave his own twist to it and so the academy of Merksem got this beautiful mural.
