Artist collective Treepack has just made history in the Margritte neighborhood of Jette with the realization of the tallest mural in Belgium. Together with Shozy, the world-renowned street artist and master of optical illusions, Treepack has realized a work of art measuring no less than 600 square meters and 46 meters high. This impressive work serves as an iconic eye-catcher and reflects the identity of the region.
The neighborhood and the woman central
This project began with a unique, participatory approach. Treepack was chosen from hundreds of submissions from various collectives and artists. Three designs were selected, from which Jette residents chose their favorite. Neighborhood residents then brainstormed with them to shape the final design. Inspired by René Magritte, this mural brightens up the Margritte neighborhood and contributes to its upgrading.
This mural emphasizes the crucial role of women in society and portrays her at the center of this work. She also symbolizes social equality and diversity in Jette. This artwork creates a new landmark that, like the Atomium that adorns the background, graces Jette's skyline.
Future full of color
Junes Bazouz, co-founder of Treepack, shares his pride: "We are immensely proud to have been able to realize this monumental work of art with one of the most renowned artists in the world. In this way, we hope to make a positive contribution to the residents of Jette, who from now on will be able to enjoy a beautiful work of art that focuses on social equality and diversity."
Whether this is the last great work we've seen from Treepack? Not at all! They are always on the lookout for new opportunities and are happy to work with other cities and towns to bring even more inspiring projects to life.
