A visit to the town hall in Lanaken will soon be welcomed with a beautiful new work of art. In a collaboration between the Municipality of Lanaken and the artists' collective Treepack, the new wheelchair path has been made more accessible through colorful art. The artwork, depicting local flora and fauna from the region, aims to connect people, make the entrance more accessible and brighten up the surroundings.

In April 2024, hard work was underway on the new entrance hall of City Hall, with a focus on improving visitor accessibility. The artwork, which can be admired along the wheelchair path, depicts several local amphibians, such as the frog and a newt with a stickleback hiding behind a blanket of aquatic plants. You can also find a beaver, colorful dragonflies and beautiful flowers.

Lanaken municipality has been putting considerable effort into street art in recent years, painting a number of utility boxes in 2021 under the "Tour Elentrik" initiative. This project, initiated by Treepack, engages local and professional artists to beautify utility boxes in the region. A total of 20 boxes were painted at various public locations. In addition to the success of Tour Elentrik, there are concrete plans to transform the facade of the sports hall.

This colorful initiative reflects the joint effort of the Lanaken municipality and Treepack to improve both the accessibility of the building and the beauty of its surroundings. The artwork invites visitors to enjoy the nature of the region. Moreover, the artwork contributes to a lively and welcoming atmosphere in the town hall.
