In order to increase the experience along the sporty cycling routes, Tourism Flemish Brabant is having ten Street Art works installed in the province. For example, Eddy Merckx was previously given a mural in his native village of Kiezegem and a work of art also appeared in Overijse. 'The Steel Cyclist' now adorns the facade of Palm Brewery, located on the Cornet Gravel Road in Steenhuffel. The artwork shows the knight who symbolizes Cornet beer, carrying his steel steed on his shoulders.
The mural at Palm Brewery was designed and executed by Treepack. This artist collective, which specializes in transforming public spaces through accessible and inspiring art, calls on artists from home and abroad to do so. "Our artists have done a wonderful job here," says Junes Bazouz, co-creator of Treepack. "For this artwork, it took them about two weeks to design the sketch. Then it took only about ten days to bring their work to life on this wall. Not an easy task because, as you can see, there is some kind of relief in the facade."
