Every year Lommel organizes a street art initiative in one of the town's hamlets. This year it was Kerkhoven's turn under the direction of street art organization Treepack. Nine locations were selected that were brightened up in an artistic and playful way through colorful street art. Soon, the inhabitants of Lommel will be kindly invited to take a walk and admire these playful art interventions during a real 'Tour Surprise'.
The street art project is a collaboration with the artist collective Treepack. Together with the inhabitants of the Lommel hamlet of Kerkhoven, they chose a walking route called Tour Surprise. A total of nine unusual locations were transformed into a colorful piece of street art. Using an interactive treasure map, these locations can be discovered by young and old. The artworks respond to the unusual shapes of objects in the streets and quickly conjure a smile on the faces of onlookers and residents.
Those who want to admire the works of art will not have to wait long. Tour Surprise officially starts on Friday, March 31. From then on, the walk can be done daily. The starting point is hall Heidegalm at Kanaalstraat 18 in Lommel. In total, the walk is 2.5 kilometers long and also accessible for wheelchairs and baby carriages.
Stad Lommel and CC De Adelberg are therefore pleased to invite you to the opening of the street art project Tour Surprise in Lommel-Kerkhoven. This will take place on Friday, March 31, 2023 at 13.30 in hall Heidegalm.
After a short word from alderman Peter Vanderkrieken, we will walk the route (2.5 km) in different groups, together with the pupils of elementary school Sint-Jan. Halfway there is the possibility to make a stop at Café Sin.
