Every year, a street art initiative takes place in one of the hamlets of Lommel. This year, it's Kerkhoven's turn, guided by street art organisation Treepack. Nine locations were chosen and playfully brightened up with colourful, artistic street art. Soon, the residents of Lommel are warmly invited to take a stroll and discover these playful artistic interventions during a genuine 'Tour Surprise'.
This street art project is a collaboration with the artists' collective Treepack. Together with the local residents of the hamlet of Kerkhoven in Lommel, they created the Tour Surprise walking route. A total of nine unusual locations were transformed into vibrant pieces of street art. Using an interactive treasure map, young and old can discover these hidden gems. The artworks playfully respond to the unique shapes of streetscape objects, instantly bringing a smile to the faces of onlookers and locals alike.
Anyone wishing to admire the artworks won't have to wait much longer. Tour Surprise officially kicks off on Friday, 31 March. From that day forward, the walk can be enjoyed daily. The starting point is Zaal Heidegalm at Kanaalstraat 18 in Lommel. The route is 2.5 kilometres long and fully accessible for wheelchairs and prams.
The City of Lommel and CC De Adelberg cordially invite you to the opening of the Tour Surprise street art project in Lommel-Kerkhoven. This will take place on Friday, 31 March 2023 at 1:30 PM at Zaal Heidegalm.
Following a brief welcome by Alderman Peter Vanderkrieken, we will walk the route (2.5 km) in small groups alongside the pupils of primary school Sint-Jan. Halfway along the path, there is an opportunity to make a stop at Café Sin.
