The facade of the Atelier for Creative Expression (ACE) in Beerzel has been refreshed with street art. In honor of the new school year, the exterior received a bright, new look. A work of art was placed on the front facade and the side facade was also repainted.
The design depicts an artist bent over his work in a difficult posture. He paints "studio" on the facade and "for creative expression" on the asphalt. He thus steps outside the framework of the mural.
"Both the front and side facade of the ACE had become really ugly," said Mayor Peter Gysbrechts (List Mayor). "The old layer of bare skin was starting to crumble. So why not opt for a beautiful mural? Together with the professional organization Treepack, we arrived at this final result. We are very happy with it."
"Several artists submitted a design," said Alderman for Culture Inge De Bie (List Mayor). "We chose that of the artist Daangenaam, who is associated with Treepack. The design gives the outside world an idea of what is happening in the ACE. Perfectly chosen when you know that the drawing academy and several more groups of local artists find their home in the building."
