Can't wait to see the results of the works on the Oosterweel connection? Neither can we. That is why we decided to paint the finish of the bridge of the R1 ring around Antwerp near the Ijzerlaan.
The artwork, called Time Trippers, was designed by Treepack Art Director, Sam Billen. Together, these time-trippers form a line of honour or finish line. In this way, they invite the many cyclists and passers-by to ride together towards the finish. They ask for a little patience and time from their surroundings, but this patience will be rewarded big time when we approach the finish line of the Oosterweel works!
The mural was the second part of a project commissioned by the builder Lantis. The long-awaited closure of the Ring Road will start this year with the first works on the right bank. The works are necessary to make traffic around Antwerp flow again and at the same time create more quality of life for those who live, work or move around in the city.
The execution of this artwork was done by the talented artist Sam Shennan. After a few sunny days, this talented Aussie brought the project to a successful conclusion.
Living, working, relaxing
The long-awaited closure of the Ring Road will start this year with the first works on the right bank. The works are necessary to allow traffic around Antwerp to flow smoothly again and at the same time to create more quality of life for those who live, work or move around in the city. Together with the city of Antwerp, 18 liveability projects have been defined that will help provide an upgrade in space, a reduction in noise pollution and healthier air.
