Following the refresh of the Atelier for Creative Expression (ACE), GC Klein Boom's event room also received a colorful makeover. This project, realized in collaboration with the organization Treepack, brings to life the identity of the community center in an artistic and monumental way.
"Next to GC Klein Boom, a beautiful new sports hall has been erected. The community center could also use a lick of paint. We chose to embellish the wall of the event hall with a beautiful mural that can be seen from the street. We also collaborated with the Treepack organization for this artwork, just as we did for the street art on our ACE. It has become a real eye-catcher!" says Mayor Peter Gysbrechts.
"We chose a design by artist Sam Billen, associated with Treepack. The design for the artwork portrays the identity of the event hall in a monumental, artistic way. The design primarily responds to the atypical architecture of the building in function of its surroundings. Namely, the sculpture reflects the surrounding landscape with the pond and as such will generate an extra "layer" in the landscape. The landscape-like character of the sculpture flows into a serene meeting of 2 faces. This 'encounter' is always central during all the different types of events that take place in the hall. Both faces also contain elements that clearly refer to events, such as the headphones." concludes alderman for culture Inge De Bie.
