Disarmingly Hospitable - CC Leopoldsburg

The municipality of Leopoldsburg finds it important that direct moments from the war, which citizens have experienced themselves, can be relived. That is why the Cultural Center, in cooperation with artist collective Treepack, has realized a striking mural. This artwork, called "Disarmingly Hospitable," takes us back to the end of World War II.

Memories of the liberation are hereby rekindled. A hopeful time where people in Leopoldsburg came together to celebrate and enjoy their freedom. This celebration can now continue to be celebrated by the unarmed soldiers as a vivid illustration. After a long time of struggle, they can finally embrace their loved ones again. The white dove represents eternal fidelity in this unconditional love.

With an eye for detail, Treepack wove some typical features from that period into the artwork. The sweet taste of freedom is symbolized by a piece of chocolate that the child holds in his hand. At the time, this was handed out during the liberation. Legendary musician Django Reinhardt is also featured. He plays his guitar to the rhythm of conviviality. While enjoying music, there is dancing and laughter.

This stylish mural reflects the lively activities taking place in and around the Cultural Center of Leopoldsburg. A place where different nationalities come together in joy. "We are delighted that this work of art can be part of the city's cultural heritage," said the Leopoldsburg municipality. In doing so, they hope it will be a source of inspiration and joy for the residents and visitors of the municipality.

This mural aims to bring residents closer together. Bonding through this valuable tribute to the past and a celebration of the future. Be sure to stop for a moment to discover this unique creation. It reminds us to enjoy the moment, embrace joy and appreciate what life offers us.
